Spartleton

St Abbs Head

How to get there:

A 20 minute (10 miles) drive through Stenton and Garvald and then towards Johnscleugh. Turn left on a track just after you have gone under a set of power lines and park the car.

The Walk

A short walk along Whiteadder water and back over Spartleton hill where we will have wonderful views accros the Dunbar Common to Fife.

Cross the river on the other side of the fence. Follow the river until the start of Whiteadder reservoir and turn left on a track towards Gamelshiel castle. 100 mtrs before the castle climb the hill on your right towards the fence and gate. Pass through the gate and follow the fence to your left up the hill. Keep walking a straight line and at the top of the ridge skirt round towards the cairn at the top of the hill.
At the cairn walk towards in a NW direction until you meet a good path lower down the hill. Follow the path until under the powerlines and follow the road to the left back to the car.
